Rick knew he was most comfortable when talking with farmers and ranchers and why not? Rick had been born and raised on a ranch in the Sandhills of western Nebraska. He rode a horse at the age of 3, owned his first horse when he was 5 and entered his first rodeo at age 10. When Rick graduated from high school, he tried a year or two at college but was more excited about the thought of getting started in the real world. Finding a job in small town Nebraska proved to be a challenge because Rick wasn't particularly interested in working as a mechanic or being a manager at Pizza Hut. His friends and family told Rick that with his outgoing personality and natural ability to build relationships quickly that he should be in sales - so when he saw a small classified sales wanted ad in the newspaper about working with farmers and ranchers, he made a call.
That was five years ago and since that time alot has happened in Rick's life. He's married his high school sweetheart, bought a small acreage and house on the outside of town and their little boy turned two in April. Their second child is scheduled to arrive in April of next year. They enjoy camping and boating on the weekend and, of course, they take in a rodeo or two each year. During the week? Rick does what he loves best - talking with farmers and ranchers - and while he's at it, Rick will make almost $100,000 this year and he and his wife will enjoy a luxury all-expense paid trip to Cancun next year.
There are over 30,000 subscribers of the Nebraska Farmer Magazine and because Nebraska Farmer recommends Basic Financial Solutions to their subscribers for many of their financial needs, Rick has alot of people to talk to in the eight counties surrounding his hometown and he likes the fact that he's home every night to tuck his son into bed. "Still, there are some long days and I work hard. It's nice though to know that I'm paid well for my hard work and it's rewarding work. My clients are good people who I've been able to help. That feels good."
(For privacy purposes, the names and some of the other personal information about Rick have been changed but the story of "Rick" is a very real life story of a successful BFS agent.)
